AcuCentre – Acupuncture practice for sale
Description
AcuCentre is an acupuncture practice that has been in business in Geneva since 2008, at the current location since 2011. The offices are quiet and very well located in the center of downtown Geneva with plenty of street and lot parking plus ample access by public transport.
We have served the English & French speaking community of local and international origin with the wide range of TCM health & wellness services – acupuncture, herbal medicine, dietary therapy, Tuina, Qigong remedial exercise & energy healing, Feng Shui and Taoist life coaching.
We are now looking to move towards retirement from daily clinical work, while continuing some of our teaching and consultation work (Qigong, dietary therapy & herbal medicine, meditation, life coaching and Feng Shui) and seek someone who will be able to continue the physical practice (acupuncture, auriculotherapy, moxa, cupping, massage as a base) and offer quality service to our patient population.
Practice
We have a general and wide-ranging practice including patient cases of musculo-skeletal, gynecological, digestive, psychological, immune, respiratory, cardiac, dermatological, pediatric, rheumatological, neurological, and other conditions. At our peak, we hosted around 30 patient visits per week (you stand to inherit a mail list of over 750 total patients) with an average patient cost over CHF 125 / session, grossing 80,000 – 110,000 annually / full-time practice (includes secondary teaching & rental income).
We have also established an ASCA accredited school of TCM continuing education, which you could potentially participate with offering you a further resource stream.
Facility
The offices are rented for a well under-market CHF 346 m2 / year = CHF 2800 monthly (includes heat), a rate changed only once since 2011, (caused by the higher cost of heating) on a self-perpetuating five-year lease (last renewed in April 2021). The 97 m2 space includes an entrance foyer, small kitchenette, two bathrooms, waiting area & reception desk and three treatment rooms, the largest of which (30 m2) doubles as a small classroom. A CHF 14,000 security account is held in relation to the lease.
Note: You have the option of renting out two treatment rooms full time if your work will not need more than one space for patients at a time. In this way you would recapture around 2/3 of the rental fees. Recommended minimum monthly sub-rental fees: Large room: CHF 1150, Medium room: CHF 900, Small room: CHF 750 (actual charges should be greater to reflect material investment, maintenance and risk).
Website
AcuCentre.ch is a well-established and functioning site. The name is very understandable in French & English, the two dominant local languages, and shows up early on most searches. It was designed and hosted through Square Space. It has an under-utilized Blog capacity and a function to feed your mail list. Currently linked to our sister site, Chi Rivers.com, we would be happy to decouple the sites and assist you in working with Square Space if you choose to continue the site with them. In any case, we would be happy to add a short announcement & link to your newly established services on Chi Rivers for the initial transfer period.
Material investment
We invested and pass on with the permanent space: windows, flooring, lighting & storage. We also invested in the following items mostly available with the space – free-standing lighting fixtures, treatment equipment, kitchen supplies, office furniture, rugs, art & wall hangings, TCM library, acupuncture supplies. See complete list.
Cost
We would propose a negotiated fee based on recent 8-year average annual earnings + material investments, with our decision based on a best offer, plus an evaluation of professional & personal qualifications.
Clinic annual income:

2016 93,608

Transitional arrangements
To strengthen a smooth transfer of patient care and support areas of TCM you might need, I am open to serving in a transitory supervisory role for up to several months.
Transfer of lease
Swiss landlords like to rent commercial space to commercial entities with a proven track record of financial stability and paying bills timely. They seem to favor a track record of business activity here in Switzerland. That being said, demonstrating a good business record, showing a capital reserve or obtaining a sponsor are all ways to secure their trust to transfer the lease to you.
Who we’re looking for
Full acupuncture training with at least one year of practical clinical experience. The training must meet or exceed requirements for ASCA / RME acupuncture certification.
Preferred: TCM naturopath (OrTra Ma federal diploma standards) - comprehensive TCM training with herbal medicine, dietary therapy, Tuina massage, and Qigong. Speak French and English.
We’re looking for someone who will be successful – both in providing quality natural healthcare to their patients and establishing a solid self-support for their life. This requires professional knowledge & skill, entrepreneurial zing, commitment and hard work along with love and compassion for your chosen path. Medicine is a broad field of work, broader still natural medicine, as it embraces the full range of human experience in its scope. Thus, it is aided by a correspondingly broad range of knowledge and skill so you can function as coach or counselor and doctor of natural science as the situation demands. Life-long learning is required. But the pay-off in work satisfaction can be great.
For Foreign nationals
If you are not a Swiss citizen, there are extra hurdles to clear (obtaining a work permit, demonstrating financial solvency, learning a language) which may make the process longer but all can be overcome.
Your Swiss experience
There are several advantages in taking on a practice in Switzerland with its high standard of living, high earnings, universal healthcare insurance with one part covering alternative medicine – more people can afford your services. At the same time, Switzerland is a very safe, stable country with a history of a strong social safety net, free quality higher education and supportive of small business.
